What is the CT Festival of Indie Games?

CT FIG is a digital and board game Showcase Competition open to all indie designers at any stage of development!

Designers who want to become competitors in the CT FIG will submit their games by clicking on “Compete”. From there, if they are one of the 30 games selected, a booth will become available to purchase to present their game and run demos in the exhibit hall. Judges from the gaming industry will cast their ballots for their favorites in several categories such as best in show. Other attendees will also be able to vote for crowd favorite!

It all takes place at the hugely popular   convention where designers’ games are exposed to thousands of people during the show!

New this year!!!

The festival is now in the heart of the Dealer Room at ConnectiCon! See Our New Space Here.

Competitors, and Exhibitors will be in the center of all the action in the area  with the highest foot traffic.  2021 CT FIG gives you the opportunity for more people to see your games than ever before!

All Competitors Receive:

  • A digital CT FIG “Official Selection Silver Seal” for use with their game promotion
  • An invitation to our Awards Gala on Saturday at 8PM hosted by Board Game Comedian Grant Lyon!
  • Access to CT FIG step and repeat banner at the Gala for photo ops with awards and friends.
  • A 1×8 full color CT FIG “Official Selection banner” including your game name and art displayed over your booth during the con (yours to keep after).

  • An interview on the Which Game First Podcast

The Board Game Comedy Hour

Grant Lyon, a touring professional comedian from Comedy Central, Comic’s Unleashed, the SyFy Channel, and more, is also a huge board game lover! His comedy album Scheduled Fun Time hit number one on the comedy charts and has made him the featured artist of the month on multiple SiriusXM channels. He’s performed in 45 states and is recognizable from numerous national TV commercials. In addition, he makes silly review videos about good games with his series Grant’s Game Recs, and he’s the co-designer of the game Curmudgeon, published by 25th Century Games. For the first time ever, Grant is putting his 16 years of standup comedy experience into a standup show all about board games. If you’re a gamer, these are jokes for you.

Educational Panels

This year the CT FIG will be hosting some fantastic panels to help enhance your design skills.

Getting The Most from Your Playtesting

Finding enough playtesters and getting reliable data from them is always difficult.  This panel will discuss great ways to create a community of proactive diverse playtesters and gather the most useful feedback from them.

Creating a Compelling Narrative for your Game

Focusing only on mechanics can limit your audience. This panel will explore ways to build a great story and have it truly inform play.

Environmentally Sound Practices in Game Design

You may not realize how many earth resources are used in the design and publishing of both digital and analog games.  This panel will look at their impacts and ways to mitigate them through responsible production.

The Perks and Pitfalls of Self-Publishing

When deciding between self-publishing or going with an established publisher, there is a lot to think about!  This panel compares the pros and cons of both options.
